Hidden Injustices: A Review of PA & Hamas Human Rights Violations in the West Bank and Gaza to be presented to the European ParliamentPosted on November 15th, 2012.
A new report by the Jerusalem Institute of Justice, Hidden Injustices, examines the Palestinian governing authorities through the lens of international human rights standards, reporting on the primary violations of human rights committed against the Palestinian People. According to research conducted by the Jerusalem Institute of Justice, the Palestinians have received an estimated 25 times more aid, per capita, than European citizens under the Marshall Plan for the reconstruction and economic recovery of Europe following WWII (adjusted for currency inflation).
The Palestinian leadership, rather than improving the living conditions of their people with this funding, have instead violated their human rights through arbitrary detentions, torture and cruel punishment, restriction of freedom of the press, denial of religious and minority rights, and oppression of women and children. JIJ asserts in its report that the billions of dollars of aid to the Palestinian governing authorities should be contingent on a demonstrated commitment to human right’s reforms and increased financial accountability and transparency.
Adv. Calev Myers, the Founder of the Jerusalem Institute of Justice, will be presenting Hidden Injustices at 1:30PM on Thursday, November 15th in the European Parliament, at an event initiated and facilitated by the European Coalition for Israel.
